Stewardship 2012

Though He was rich, yet for our sakes,  He became poor,
 so that we through His poverty might become rich.

Once a year we talk about giving, but really every day is giving in Jesus Christ. He gave completely of Himself that we would know His love on earth and share in the priceless treasure of eternal life. Before Jesus, the standard for religious giving was the tithe, ten percent of what we have, but His life changed that.  In His complete devotion to God, in assuming birth in a manger, and all the sins of the world on a Cross, He invites us to think about our whole lives as God’s from beginning to end and beyond.  He invites our thoughts and actions to begin and end in his love. He invites us to become bearers of His very own
mind. And He invites us to pass out His love into the world through all our words and deeds. He honors us by choosing us.You are a blessing to the world in Him. Thank you.

This year, as you think about stewardship, and as we approach the season of gift giving in November and December, I pray you’ll spend time relishing and rejoicing in what we’ve been given. God, the Giver of every good gift, counts us worthy to share Himself into the world through our love and giving! Incredible! He honors us by making us His Church!
 
The Church is nothing save the collection of all our gifts, which He first gave, offered back to Him and  empowered by His Love.  May He inspire our witness. May He give us wisdom and courage, for only He can. And may He bless our humble efforts to return His boundless generosity!
